Character Info:
Name: Ayumu “Osaka” Kasuga
Age: 18.
AU/PG/CANON/OC: Canon, Azumanga Daioh
Summary:
Osaka is generally pretty strange. As far as we know, she’s always had a unique way of thinking about things. More often than not, she’ll focus on one specific piece of information and fail to notice anything else. For example, she frequently spends so much time staring at the stop signal on a crosswalk, she’ll forget to cross when the light turns green. One another occasion, she didn’t hear any of her classmates screaming about a cockroach because she was so completely focused on hunting down ”eye floaters”. Then there’s the time she almost stabbed her hand by accident.
Osaka also tends to connect strange thoughts together. She’s convinced that her friend Chiyo is capable of flying with her pigtails. She associates breast sizes with countries. These associations occasionally get oddly morbid. During the school festival,
Despite her flaws, she’s not an idiot. Her strange focus allows her to notice things others miss. She’s the only one of her friends to notice that schoolmate Kaorin has a huge crush on friend Sakaki. She’s also the smartest out of the characters who do the worst in school... which isn’t saying much. More notably, she has quite a knack for puns.
All in all, she’s prone to absentmindedness, daydreaming, and what come off as non-sequiturs. While she has a sense that she needs to “get it together”, she doesn’t understand what exactly is weird about her.
Physically speaking, Osaka is pathetic. An eight-year old girl can outrun her in a race. She can’t stretch past her waist. Most of her class time is spent sleeping and she genuinely considered dropping out of school her final year when she realized that she’d have to climb three flights of stairs. She has terrible balance, finding it difficult to even carry a tray of food without fear of dropping it. She also can’t float on water, needing a paddleboard to move about.
Despite her many flaws, Osaka is pretty nice. She’s very soft-spoken, taking her time to say what’s on her mind. She generally stays at the same level of calm, content emotional state while spouting her various strange thoughts. Her patience doesn’t last forever though and she can get frustrated or depressed if pushed. She takes references to her own distracted nature pretty well, but it occasionally riles her up. If she’s particularly fond of one of her own ideas or habits, “betraying” those ideas piss her off immensely. She also frequently gets caught up with other people’s emotions, very likely to follow whatever the group is doing rather than figuring it out on her own.
Gem Considerations: Fluorite, possesses the qualities of clarity and improved decision-making, things Osaka is in desperate need of. The gem, placed on the top of Osaka's head, would put Osaka in a position where she can more easily focus and understand what’s going on around her. The additional focus would allow Osaka to develop and feel more willing to take on adult responsibilities. Fluorite can also act as a learning aid, helping Osaka improve step by step and ensuring she improves her decision making skills from both the gem and experience.
Power considerations:
List Three Powers You Would Like Your Character To Have:
Osaka would think about the possibility of having superpowers and immediately become uncomfortable. Stuff like that required things like work. Or studying. Or focus. All things she tends to fail at. Not to mention being incredibly dangerous. She would largely be reluctant to attempt to learn anything about her powers and find the entire situation kind of disconcerting.
